2019 Annual Outing

Catch up on the highlights of our Annual outing, this year a trip …

26 Members and 14 wives and friends took a trip to Dumfries House near Cumnock in Ayrshire on Wednesday June 5th . They stopped at Moffat for a break before continuing the journey. The visit included lunch served in the house before an escorted tour of the main parts of the house. The house and its fixtures, fittings and furniture had been saved when Prince Charles, as Steward of Scotland, used his influence and charitable trusts to manage a last minute reprieve from being sold off in lots. The house had been restored to its original 18th. century splendour with the biggest collection of Chippendale furniture in the world. There was opportunity to explore some of the estate and gardens and some members actually managed to see the Queen’s walled garden, despite some inclement weather.

The route home too us via Carrutherstown and a stop for a Scottish High Tea at the Hetland Hall Hotel.
